DIY Sun-Dyed Leaf Tote

Take fall with you wherever you go.

Remember making things with leaves when you were young? This Sun Dyed Leaf Tote DIY is a great way to get back into making.

  • Leaves

  • Paintbrush

  • A little bit of sunshine

  • Tote Bag

  • Tape

  • Water

  • Inkodye

First, it's important to find a shady area to prepare your project. Really, keep it out from the sun. At least for now. Then begin by taping down your bag's edges.

Mix a one-to-one ratio of water and Inkodye, and get painting! Give the whole bag a nice coat. Sidestrokes, up and down, a little diagonal action here and there– whatever gets the job done.

Lay leaves down on the ink side of the tote in whatever pattern you like. There's no right or wrong way to do it.

Take your tote bag out in the sun and let it tan for around eight minutes. Then just remove the leaves, and you're ready to leave. Err, go.
