Thumb Print Cookies


  • 1¾ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • ¾ cup butter (softened)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup jam (raspberry, cherry, strawberry, apricot, etc.)


Preheat oven to 350° F. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Slowly add the dry ingredients until mixed well. Drop tablespoonfuls of batter onto greased cookie sheets. Kids can press thumb prints into the center of each dough ball. Fill each indentation with jam. Bake for about 15 minutes. Makes 1½-2 dozen yummy cookies.
